Church in Asia
Pope John Paul II in his Apostolic letter 'Church in Asia' has declared the divine plan of God. He says that the light which enlightens every man enlightens whatever is true and holy in the Buddhist, Hindu and Islam spiritual traditions. The church accepts this gladly. But this does not lessen the duty of the church to proclaim that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. The fact that people of other religions can obtain the grace of God and can be saved through Christ outside the church which is the common way of salvation, does not cancel the call to the faith and baptism planned by God (church in Asia - No .31)

Jesus in other Religions
When we analyze the truths in other religions, we come to know that they proclaim Easan (Jesus) and His teachings. People worship God as they like because they do not know the truth. But of late Scholars have found out the light of Jesus in the Indian Religions in their researches and have made it known to the world. This is God's present day revelation. Even though this shocks the leaders of other Religions and amazes them, they accept that it is true. The prophet Isaiah has foretold this 700 years before the birth of Christ. He says, "many nations will marvel at him and kings will be speechless with amazement . They will see and understand something they had never known'' (Isa.52:15)

Jesus in Hindu Religion
At Easan Poonga, the truth about Jesus found in Saiva and Vainava religions called Hindu religion will be collected and presented in writings, pictures and sculptures. The truths about Jesus contained in 'Thirukural' also called 'Ulaga Pothu Marai' meaning 'The way of life of all the people of the world', Buddhist and Islam religions, the events in the life of Jesus that happened in history and what Science has to say about it will be shown, one by one. All these have been told as 'Puranas' or 'stories'. But they contain truths about Jesus. If we look at these with open mind, we can see their parallels in the Bible. All these were written so that we may know the true light in these days and attain eternal life.

Jesus in Tamil Literature
Let us understand what is said about Jesus in the Tamil Literature. 'Word of God' is the name which the Son of God had when He became man. (John 1:4,Rev 19:13) He was called by His parents as Jeshua. The Greeks changed it into Isus. In English, He is called Jesus. The Arabs called Him Easa. In Tamil He is called as Easan.

Because Jesus has been proclaimed to Asians in the European way, most Indians have not understood and have not accepted Him. To Indians it is necessary to proclaim Easan as the 'sandror' did. This is an effective way to proclaim Him. Knowing this, Our Pope John Paul II wanted the church in Asia to be an Asian church.

Easan Poonga:
God has given this Vision about the Easan Poonga to bring out the truths contained in the books of the various religions and make them known to the world. By this we sow the seed for the people to know the truth and live new lives united with Easan Iraivan. Anybody can see this. So Let us Join hands to sow the seed for the life united with Easan Let us make the true light shine in the minds of the people.
